When it comes to playing video games, it should never be do you have the console to play it on, but what platform do you want to play that particular game on. Everyone loves their console exclusives like The Last of Us or Super Mario Odyssey, sure. But, it is the ability to play a particular title, no matter what console you own, that helps video games get the largest possible reach in society.
This year, there were three titles that really stood out for the Best Multiplatform Award, and all three are worthy contenders.
TRIANGLE STRATEGY

Platforms: PC, Nintendo Switch
Impressions
TRIANGLE STRATEGY is a tactical RPG co-developed by SQUARE ENIX and Artdink where you control characters on a grid-based battlefield. As the characters fight enemies throughout the story, they will level up and unlock new skills and abilities. Set on the continent of Norzelia, thirty years after the last great war, TRIANGLE STRATEGY contains a complex story with easily accessible gameplay mechanics to both veterans of, and newcomers to, the tactical RPG genre. What sets TRIANGLE STRATEGY apart from other tactical RPGs is the fact that the practical and moral choices you make in the story affect the game in both minor – and major – ways, and those decisions will carry out through the remainder of the playthrough. TRIANGLE STRATEGY is a game that makes you feel like what you pick matters, and it just isn’t shades of the same end result, and that is how this game earned its spot for this year’s Best Multiplatform Awards.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero
NA Release Date: September 27, 2022
Platform(s): PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch
Review
Set three months after Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd, The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero takes place in Crossbell and stars a rookie police detective named Lloyd Bannings who is assigned to a law enforcement branch that investigates the city’s criminal syndicates. This game was originally released in 2010 in Japan for the PlayStation Portable, and only came to North American shores over a decade later. With a great story, standout characters, and solid turn-based combat that is backed up by an amazing soundtrack, this game deserved to be on the shortlist for 2022’s Best Multiplatform Award.
Elden Ring
NA Release Date: February 25, 2022
Platform(s): PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S
Elden Ring was directed and written by Hidetaka Miyazaki in a world built by George R. R. Martin, and it is one of those games that actually lived up to the massive hype generated before release. Available on pretty much every platform you can imagine, Elden Ring is a multiplatform game that blew away everyone who picked it up in 2022 who started their own journey to the Lands Between and saw all the beautiful locations and obscure lore points that this massive, but difficult, world had to offer. It quickly locked in its place on this list.
